From October 1, 2015 to September 30, 2016, The Friends of the Dorval Library are generously providing twelve iPad minis to be given away over the course of a year. Library members who use the self-check stations to borrow/renew their documents are eligible to enter the monthly draw.

The winner for November, Jessica Levesque, was at the Library on December 4th to receive her prize and congratulations from the Friends of the Library President, Margo Heron and Dorval City Councillor, Christopher von Roretz.

Ms Levesque was a brand new library member and her winning slip was from her very first transaction. Talk about “beginner’s luck”!

Mad Hatter’s Tea Party 

Sponsored by the Friends of the Library  

Saturday, November 14, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Library

Celebrate Alice in Wonderland’s 150th birthday with the whole family. There will be crafts, games, and a tea party. Come dressed as your favorite character! This activity is free for Library members and costs $3 for non-members. Please register in advance as space is limited.

 
How you can help : The event organisers are looking for old tea cups, tea pots, platters and other serving pieces to set an elegant and whimsical table for the event.  If you have anything that you would be willing to donate or loan (nothing precious!) please contact Gail at the Library at 514 633-4170,  gwarren@ville.dorval.qc.ca

On April 26, 2015 Friends of the Dorval Library President Margo Heron congratulated winners of the My Library- A World to Discover drawing contest for children.  Dorval Library collaborated on this inititative along with other  libraries in the Bibliothèques des banlieues de Montréal  (BBIM) organisation.

The Executive of the Friends  took on the task of selecting  Dorval’s winnings drawings from over 30 submissions in three age categories.  The winning drawings were used to make beautiful banners  That are now on display in the library.

Friends of the Dorval Library have sponsored a prize along with Restaurant Bellissimo for the


Blind date contest


​Over 160 participants borrowed from a collection of books with wrapped covers for a surprise "blind date" with a title selected by the library staff. They then filled out a ballot telling us how their date went in order to be eligible for a gift certificate towards a dinner at Bellissimo Restaurant. Congratulations to this year's winner, Jacqueline MacGregor.

2015 annual "good as new" used book sale


Due to the hard work of our loyal book sale volunteers, The Friends of the Dorval Library can report another success  - $3,819.30 in sales. At $2.00 or less per book, that's a lot of books! 


Thank you to all who came out to support our fundraiser. We enjoyed meeting you and hope to see you again next year.

On November 14th,  the young and young-at-heart  were invited  to attend a High Tea, in celebration of the 150th anniversary of Lewis Carroll’s classic tale, Alice in Wonderland. Guests were ushered through a tiny magical door, leaving the Dorval Library behind to enter “Wonderland”,  where they were  treated to goodies, games, crafts and prizes. “Alice”, the “Queen of Hearts”, the “Mad Hatter” and other Wonderland friends joined in the fun.

1. Just for stopping by, your name will be entered in a draw for a very generous gift
certificate.  Bring along some of your friends to join The Friends and they will also have a
chance to enter the contest! 

2. Participate in our Information / Scavenger Hunt. We will draw for another gift certificate in our annual contest which features questions on sites in the surrounding area.
